Psyllium husks are a fiber gained from the seeds of the plant Plantago ovata. They are hygroscopic, which allows them to expand and become mucilaginous.
Psyllium is mainly used as a dietary fiber to relieve symptoms of both constipation and mild diarrhea, as well as a food thickener.
